Morzine’s Winter Begins Here!

This weekend winter officially begins in Morzine with the early opening of select lifts. Perhaps just as exciting, Cafe Chaud will also be opening for winter!

There has been heavy snowfall all the way down to town over the past week, meaning the pistes are ready to go. There has been over sixty centimetres of snow up top and there’s more on the way.

Because of the amount of snow, the decision has been made to open some lifts a week early.

Les Gets will be opening select lifts and the Grande Terche area is also partially opening.

Avoriaz is also opening select areas. The Prodains and Ardent lifts will be providing access to the ski area. Once there, the following lifts will be open:

Express Lac Intrets, Teleski Des Ecoles, Telesiege Du Tour, Telesiege Prolays. With heavy snow expected and whiteout conditions looking likely, the tree runs in Lindarets will offer the best conditions. Get up early to get the best snow, although it looks as though tracks will get filled in fast as the snow keeps on falling.

Lift passes are available at the special price of 21 euros for a day and 40 euros for the weekend. The lifts will be running from 8:30 to 16:30. Season passes will also work.

As if that wasn’t enough, the mighty Morzine Penguins ice hockey team will be taking on and destroying Poitiers that evening at the Skoda Arena on Saturday night. Tickets are available on the door.

Follow that up with the opening party at Cafe Chaud where the toffee vodka and Jager bombs will be flowing as everyone shares stories of epic powder runs in The Stash!

This is going to be an epic weekend as winter begins in Morzine! If you’re in town then come and get involved!
