SO WHAT ABOUT THE MOUNTAIN?
The Portes du Soleil winter 2025–26 press kit lists 600 km of pistes, 208 ski lifts, 307 pistes and 12 resorts across two countries, so it’s pretty huge! In fact the Portes du Soleil is the largest ski area in Europe.
In Avoriaz alone there is a super pipe, 2 freestyle parks and the World famous Burton Stash for those of you who really like to send it. From the Hostel, it’s 10 minutes to the lifts.
SUMMER IN MORZINE
Although Morzine is famed for its incredible ski and snowboard terrain during the winter, it’s also one of the hottest summer destinations in Europe, you really do need to add it to your holiday hit list.
Morzine is at the heart of the World mountain biking scene, with a torrent of pro riders migrating here between the World Cup races across Europe. Who doesn’t like sharing a lift with a downhill hero?
If hurtling down Pleney black isn’t your thing, there’s also an insane amount of enduro trails and road bike routes including some of the cols ridden in the famous Tour De France.

The remarkable and vast Portes du Soleil is epic in its own right. Famous world over with mountain enthusiasts who travel here to indulge in one of many activities on offer.
Winter
The Portes du Soleil winter 2025–26 press kit lists 600 km of pistes in two countries, France and Switzerland, with 12 interconnected resorts and 208 ski lifts serving 307 pistes including snow parks, the famous STASH, tree-lined powder runs or kilometres of fantastic groomed runs.
Off hill activities include snowshoeing, ice skating, swimming, sledging, paragliding and sampling the town’s bustling bars and restaurants.
Summer
For summer months, choose from over 21 lifts serving the Portes du Soleil area, including world class downhill and enduro trails. Popular with bikers from around the world. Whether you are cruising on the family trails, adrenaline seeking on black downhill trails or sending it in the famous bike parks, there really is something for every ability.
There are however plenty of off hill activities, some of which include hiking, white water rafting, gorge walking, skateboarding, tennis, road biking, climbing, fitness and yoga, horseriding, golf, ziplining, swimming pools and lakes to name a few.
