We went up to the stunning Lake Montriond on Saturday for the annual Feux Du Lac festival, a jaw dropping fireworks and music display to celebrate Montriond Lake, which is normally held on the first Saturday in the month of August.
This popular event is not to be missed. The festival started in the afternoon, visitors arrived early to enjoy the facilities the lake has to offer, swim, cook BBQS, watch the sunset whilst surrounded by spectacular scenery. There was also food and drink tents, live music and entertainment.
Once the sun went down, and after being teased by a storm that was brewing down the valley (which thankfully passed!), the display started. Probably the best fireworks i have ever seen, which left us all speechless. The fireworks have a different theme every year, This year was the history of Morzine. The finale was epic!
After the fireworks, we headed over to the live music tent, where we partied away with locals and visitors. It was a fantastic night to celebrate this incredible lake, which is one of the 23 sites in the Haute-Savoie region recognised by Unesco for its exceptional geological characteristics.
If you are planning a trip to Morzine next summer for this time of year, this event needs to be in the diary!
