Morzine, Les Gets, Avoriaz and the lifts across the 12 resorts of the Portes du Soleil region are now open and welcoming guests. Christmas is just around the corner, it’s come so quickly!
Here’s a quick guide to the bus routes and lift passes available to get you around town and the mountains.
The buses around Morzine are completely free, with or without a lift pass!
Route A leaves from Pleney, passing through the roundabout in the centre of the village (straight up the road from the DB), past the Tourist Office and down Rue du Bourg before turning right at the town hall (mairie) a two minute walk down the hill from Hideout and then heading up to Les Prodains. You can then take the (payable) Prodains cable car to access Avoriaz.
Route M starts from the town hall and takes you to Lake Montriond or to the Ardent cable car and the infamous Happy Hours après ski bar. The closest stop to Hideout is just down Hideout hill then turn right at the town hall roundabout and wait outside the hairdressers called Bladerunners. For the DB, walk up Route de la Plagne to the roundabout, turn left and walk over the suspension bridge just past the Super Morzine bubble lift. Turn left on the other side and the stop is about 100m on the right. This is another way to reach the Avoriaz ski slopes via the Lindarets area where the Stash snow park area is. It is also ideal for quickly reaching Châtel and the Swiss resorts of the Portes du Soleil.
Route P serves the centre of the village as well as Route de la Plagne where DB is located.
There are also payable buses, €1.50 per ride, to the surrounding villages, including Les Gets (although generally it’s faster to ski/ride over).
Here is the timetable for all the free routes:
This link shows you where the buses are in real time along their routes, or scan the QR code on the map above.
For lift passes, there is a beginner’s pass, a local area pass (Morzine and Les Gets) covering 120km or a full Portes du Soleil pass with over 600km of pistes across France and Switzerland. There are also pedestrian passes and disabled passes available. Buy whichever fits your needs here.
You can check which lifts are open in different areas across the massive 650km ski area here.
Bon ski!
